Solo Jazz Dance Workshop with Bailey McCully

About the class/instructor:

Hour one: 

Jazz snacks—bite sized bits of jazzy fun. This class will focus on expanding your jazzy vocabulary for both new and experienced dancers. We will play with rhythm and shape as containers for the style and voice of each dancer, with classic jazz steps as the cornerstone.

Hour two:

The dance section of the band—dancing with the music and with each other. this class will work on building listening skills so we can take inspiration from the music, and create the kind of jams we all want to be a part of.

Bailey focuses on teaching students about how they can move rather than how they should move. She loves to explore personal style and creativity with her students, using the music as the constant source of guidance and inspiration. Come Join us to push and expand your solo jazz creativity!

Join us for an Intermediate Savoy Lindy workshop with Denise Steele highlighting the original Frankie Manning Savoy style. Denise taught and performed with Frankie Manning for over 15 years. She excels in Savoy styling basics and variations. After the workshop, there is a social dance with a beginner lesson by Aaron & Lauren, and Guest DJ Nick Davis.

Prerequisites: Dancers must be comfortable with the 8-count Lindy basics.

Workshop Breakdown:

2:30- 3:45 pm: SWINGCOPATIONS 1 (part 1)

Fun Frankie variations that show off the difference between Savoy Lindy and other Lindy styles.

4:00 - 5:30 pm: SWINGCOPATIONS 2 (part 2)

Cool steps, styling, and musicality, highlighting some of Denise’s favorite Frankie steps.
